Being or To Be?

I walked 7,209 steps this morning. My goal is to walk 10,000 steps every day. I am a little short on my goal this morning but I will try to make it up this sfternoon.


What I got the idea to start my blog on turning seventy, I told my wife that I was going to write a blog titled "Luciano is Being Seventy." You mean she said, " Luciano is going to be seventy." No I said, "Luciano is being seventy." I got me to thinking, what is the difference of "going to be seventy" or "being seventy." The main difference in the definition of these to words or phrase according to Webster is the following:

Full Definition of BEING - It is a noun.


 a living thing

: the most important or basic part of a person's mind or self

The reason that I am bringing up these definitions is that I want to be true to my blog as I write. I felt that using the term "going to-be seventy" was too narrow. I am going to be seventy and then that is it. It is over and done with. There it is completed, you made it to seventy, congratulations! It is over until next year when you are going to-be seventy-one.

I want to try to write about the totality of "being seventy," what are the qualities of being a seventy year old Latino person of Mexican descent, what makes me tick, what am I experiencing, what are my significant feature or features as I live through my seventieth birthday? What is my basic, real and invariable nature of my seventieth year. What changes are happening both external and internal. 

I know that is a tall order. I really have to dig deep into my personality. It won't be the same year as when I was sixty-nine that is for damn sure.

Potatoes and New York's Governor Cuomo - May 7, 2020 It is said that "necessity is the mother of invention." I was listening to Gov. Cuomo this morning do his daily briefing. Part of his daily briefing had to do with the excess of potatoes in upstate New York where the piles of beautiful potatoes are 20 feet high and a football field long and the food lines/shortages in downstate New York are miles long.  It is In situations like this that true genius really shows itself. Cuomo had partnered with philanthropic organizations to set up programs to buy these potatoes plus many other farm products from the farmers and make them available to people in need.
