Walked 7174 steps today

I turned seventy today. I will be seventy for the next 365 days and I hope to write a little bit each and every day about those things that I see and hear and do for the first time and those things that I do, hear and see maybe for the last time. There will be a lot of twists and turns and I am sure there will be some unexpected delights. With the roses I will also get some thorns. What are the rewards at being this age and what are the diminishments that come with age. I will try to note the changes and offer insights as I go through this process. I can only do it on day at a time. I hope to write in my blog every day because the year is not finished until I turn seventy-one .

For the last nine days, since last Sunday, September 20, 2015 when the Pope landed in Cuba I have been stuck to the television watching him. I have not done a lot of walking. That is the nice thing about being retired, you can stay in your pajamas all day and watch TV, not that I do it all the time. My story and feelings about the Pope will have to be another posting. The Pope has truly been an inspiration to me and to many people around the world in many aspects. One of them being his stamina . He is 78 years old, he has sciatica and I understand he has only one lung. He just kept on going. He looked tired at times but then he seemed to get his second wind and kept on going. This post will deal with with my birthday.

I was very blessed on this birthday. Today I walked about 3 miles on my own 2 feet. I think about those people that can't do that, I think about those loved ones, friends, classmates and others that did not make it to seventy.

Today I went with my wife, son-in-law and daughter to my favorite place, "The Outback" steakhouse and had their biggest Porterhouse steak with a big baked potato with butter. I know that sound like a lot of calories but that is something that I do only once or twice a year. Let me tell you that Porterhouse steak was delicious. I will have to wait until Father's Day for my next one. And of course today was a special day. Meat for me is a rare treat.

Stay Healthy My Friends
